In Memory of Terrance Williams and Montana Ferguson – “In Honor of their Lives”

In an emotional dedication of the second fire engine by Eagles Wings, in addition to local dignitaries, a group of local elementary school children at Foxtown Elementary attended, along with the parents of Montana Ferguson.  The Pastor’s Association opened with a prayer. Then, Chief Administrator Wilson, Member of Parliament Cornish, local government officials Carey and Curry, and Terrece Bootle also recounted Eagles Wings’ history along with the more extended history of Scott Lewis’ ties to North Abaco.  Scott also spoke about Eagles Wings’ primary mission of helping survivors help themselves and how volunteers staffing the new fire engine fits that mission well.  The school had a choir add to the spirit of the occasion followed by volunteer firemen having the kids climb all over the engine.

Scott and Mrs. Ferguson had a few emotional minutes as well as she was overcome with gratitude for the dedication and for the future of North Abaco.  Mr. Ferguson wanted to be the first volunteer to help support the local effort – noting he has a lifetime experience as a diesel mechanic – which will serve the unit very well.  Refreshments also were provided by the school and the dedication was held right below the actual site for the new proposed fire station and shelter for North Abaco.

It was a wonderful event with plans now being discussed for the first shelter in North Abaco along with a small water tower on the hill by the new station, and about the first two fire hydrants to be installed in North Abaco.
